January - A Record for Common Interest

With the completion of the Village Banking test phase, Common Interest is now preparing to gear up its operations. January proved to be a record month with disbursements totalling nearly 700 000 baht in funds. Considering that 2 million baht in total was disbursed last year, we are expecting much higher figures this year.
In addition to our existing Village Banks, our staff have been active expanding into new villages and areas. Currently, we are in the process of setting up 7 new villages in Chomtong, 1 new village in Phrao and 5 villages in Mae Chaem. This will double the amount of villages that we currently have in our Village Banking system. Most exciting for us is that these new areas have significant hill-tribe populations.With our growth, we are actively looking for additional staff - especially Field Staff. We are especially interested to talk with hill-tribe staff.
