New Farm Program
Common Interest is working with several groups in the Samoeng valley to create a new farm loan product. Farmers in Samoeng are famous in Thailand for their strawberries and garlic. Common Interest is working with two groups who have already successfully repaid their loans to create a new loan where farmers are not required to make a payment until they sell their harvest. Currently, farmers are required to make small monthly payments which is quite difficult considering that many have no other income besides their farm. By allowing farmers to pay their loans after the harvest season, Common Interest is able to work with a lot more (and usually poorer) people. We will keep you posted on the progress of these groups.
